Land your dream job by learning how to make a resume and standing out from the crowd
Few of us are very good at creating a different but appealing CV, however many of us go are not even sure how to start it. But as per my opinion, everybody can make an appealing CV with just little efforts and understanding. Today we are here with few tips on how to make a resume which will help you get a better job by fixing your curriculum vitae.
1. Should be self-made
There is no big deal in creating your own resume. You do not need someone to create a resume for you. The resume is just a representation of you and your skills. Who knows about you better than you on this planet? Avoid use of autogenerated templates to make sure your CV looks unique to an interviewer.
2. Open strong
You should always open strong because the first 20-25 words of your resume are very prominent. As only that’s long you usually have interviewers attention. Start with a short summary of your competence and expertise. You can expand more on with your experience further down in your CV.
3. Write to the future, not the past.
A resume is just like a marketing document for a job, not a historical record. You should always mention your current career goals and should always determine which parts of your career experience to highlight and which to minimize.
4. Don’t overhype
Overhyping about your skills is surely not a good idea as by this you are increasing the expectations of your employer from you. Which certainly you will not be able to fulfill later as it out of your potential. Even if you are hired, you will not enjoy it with its higher work-pressure than your potential. I am sure no one wants that. So just make sure you are not over advertising yourself.
5. Make it clutter free
Interviewer skims more than he read, so keeping that in mind: Avoid big paragraphs, If you have more to write prefer creating a bullet list. Also, remember some basic points, give space between paragraphs and use different headings and subheading to divide resume and introduce information.
6. Use appropriate format
Most of us are not even aware of the different formats available for creating a resume. In fact, some people don’t even consider formatting is needed and think proper format useless. A resume in proper format always attracts the interviewer. I advise you search and take a look of few samples of all formats available and choose whichever suits you better.
